12 August 2010:
I have just returned from Maseru, Lesotho, where I attended the 6th African Convention of Principals Conference. We were very fortunate, as we experienced sunny weather with day temperatures in the twenties degree celsius range.
More than 400 delegates from Botswana, Swaziland, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Kenya and of course Lesotho, attended.
Unfortunately, Namibia, an ICP affiliate, was not represented. Also present were David Wylde, ex-President of the ICP, and the present ICP President, Andrew Blair. In his address, Andrew briefly outlined the ICP's objectivities, as well as its current projects, e.g. Principals Leading Principals, and
(a) encouraged ICP members to attend the forthcoming ICP conference in Toronto 2011, as well as
(b) invited non-affiliated associations to join ICP.
Respective school choirs graced us with their presence in the mornings. Their beautiful singing, as well as spontaneous rhythmic dancing, will long still be remembered.

As per norm, a day was set aside for excursions, and delegates could choose from not fewer than 6 venues. As it has always been my desire to go up the Maluti Mountains to view the Katse Dam, I joined this excursion. Many of my fellow colleagues found the passes, and especially the altitude, almost too much. What an experience!!!
Heads from the African Associations decided to meet in Kenya in early December in order to discuss the way forward.
'Till the next time! Edie

25 November 2009:
I have just returned from an ICP executive meeting in Cork, Ireland and was asked to convey their greetings to one and all. Also pass my personal well wishes over the festive season to all members.
With the end of our academic year in sight, I wish to extend a very big thank you to the associations who responded promptly to my correspondence. We can only get better as far as communication is concerned. I am looking forward to meeting with you at the ACP convention in August in Lesotho and/or at the Girls Conference in Kampala Uganda in October 2010
God bless. Edie Jacobs

12 September 2009:
At last I can report positive news as far as a REGIONALISATION is concerned.
SWAZILAND PRINCIPALS ASSOCIATION (SWAPA)I was invited to attend the re-launching of this association on the 1-3 September. More than 200 heads attended and Mr. Charles Bennett was elected as the chairman and I shared with them the history, vision and objectives of the ICP. Mr. Khampane, president of LESPA, was the guest speaker and he told them about the African Confederation of Principals and next year's conference. Needless to say we left a very enthusiastic and excited group behind.
SAPAThe 15th annual national conference was held in Polokwane where Mrs. Alta van Heerden took over from me as president of SAPA. We had some outstanding speakers inter alia Dr. Mamphele Ramphele. The presidents of LESPA, SAHISA and the NAMIBIAN PRINCIPAL ASSOCIATION were also invited to this conference. Unfortunately as Mrs. van Vuuren was preparing herself to fly to South Africa her husband passed away. Our condolences to her and her family!
From left to right: Mr. Paul Channon (SAHISA), Mr. Ernest (NAMIBIAN delegate), and Mr. Khampane (LESPA)
SAHISAI was also privileged to attend SAHISA's conference in Manzini, Swaziland where Paul introduced me to Ms Jacqueline Roberson headmistress of the Chisipite Senior School in Harare, Zimbabwe. I have introduced myself to her and am now awaiting a reply. Who knows, more news next time round!!

July 2009:
The African contingent met at the ICP Council Meeting in Adelaide in April 2009 to discuss ways and means to contact principal associations in other African countries. For logistical regions the continent was divided into West, East, Central and South, and it was decided that the following council members would assist in this networking process namely:
- Dr John Muyingo from Uganda....East Africa
- Ms. Lonah Mumelo from Kenya....Central Africa
- Ms Mary Williams and myself (South Africa)....Sub-Sahara
It can now be reported that since then:
- Namibia has come on board, with Ms Ansie van Vuuren as their president.
- Mr. Charles Bennett, President of the Swaziland Principals Association, contacted me, and I am in the process of setting up a meeting with him.
- Mr. Jason Muwandi from Zimbabwe has been contacted.
The infrastructure of our continent does not lend itself to easy accessibility, but I remain confident that with time we will be able to reach out to all countries.
I also had the opportunity to discuss networking, etc. with the past ICP President, Mr. David Wylde, while we were in Singapore for the ICP 2009 Convention in July. We have decided to use the 2010 6th ACP Conference in Lesotho as our marketing tool. This conference will be held as follows:
- Lesotho National Convention Centre in Maseru.
